EPRA Keeps Fuel Prices Steady for March 2025
Fuel Prices Hold Steady for Second Month Running
Kenyans heading into March 2025 can breathe easy at the pump once again. In its latest monthly review, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced no changes to fuel prices—marking the second consecutive month of price stability. Despite rising global import costs for petrol and diesel, EPRA’s decision offers continued relief for motorists, transport operators, and businesses managing tight fuel budgets. But how long will this calm last in the face of international volatility?
Price Overview in Nairobi:
- Super Petrol: Ksh 176.58 per litre (unchanged)
- Diesel: Ksh 167.06 per litre (unchanged)
- Kerosene: Ksh 151.39 per litre (unchanged)
Factors Influencing the Price Adjustment
EPRA’s decision to maintain fuel prices this month is the result of careful consideration of both international and domestic dynamics. Although there was a slight increase in the landed cost of Super Petrol and Diesel, these were offset by favourable forex conditions and internal pricing buffers. At the same time, the marginal drop in the landed cost of Kerosene helped reinforce overall price stability.
EPRA’s Pricing Methodology
EPRA continues to monitor international petroleum prices, exchange rates, and other relevant factors to ensure fair pricing for consumers while allowing oil marketers to recover their costs. The Authority’s pricing formula considers the weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products, taxes, levies, and margins for oil marketers.
Why Should You Care?
In this month’s review, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has once again held fuel prices steady—marking the second consecutive no-change month. Despite rising import costs, commuters and businesses in Kenya can enjoy consistent pump prices through April.

What’s Behind These Prices?
EPRA’s adjustments are influenced by several factors:
- Global Crude Prices – Mixed trends in international markets but no major shifts affecting local pump prices.
- Landed Cost – The landed cost for Super Petrol increased by 1.34%, Diesel by 1.41%, while Kerosene saw a slight dip of 1.36%.
- Forex Rates – The Kenyan Shilling has remained relatively stable against the US Dollar, mitigating potential price hikes.
💡 Despite these factors, EPRA opted for stability, choosing to maintain the current pricing rather than pass the full cost to consumers.
Fuel Tips for Car Owners – Maximize Every Drop
Even with stable fuel prices, adopting fuel-saving habits can lead to significant savings:
- Maintain Proper Tyre Pressure: Under-inflated tyres can increase fuel consumption.
- Smooth Driving: Avoid aggressive acceleration and heavy braking.
- Regular Servicing: Keep your vehicle in top condition to ensure optimal fuel efficiency.
